Joanne Puttrich

"Presenting for Ideal World is my dream job. I can talk and shop at the same time!"

Joanne brings to Ideal World her extensive knowledge of food and love of fine wine.

Born in a district of Johannesburg, Joanne moved from South Africa to the UK with her family in 1993.

Joanne's equally-talented sister, Lindsay-Jane Vines, works for Ideal World in Peterborough. Encouraged by this fact - and unable to resist TV shopping prices! - Joanne joined Ideal as a Customer Services consultant in 2003.

She then moved to the production department as an Assistant Producer and, as her interest grew, rapidly became a Producer. Joanne was asked to attend auditions to become a Presenter early in 2004, fired by her passion for products and, she says, her ability to talk about every single one of them!

Joanne now has her dream job. She can talk and shop at the same time, and is very proud to have joined the Ideal World family of Presenters!

Q & A:

What did you do before IW?
Before becoming a presenter on Ideal World, I worked as a producer and assistant producer for the company. This was the only ‘office’ job I have ever had, as I trained to run hotels and restaurants, which is what I spent the seven and a half years after school doing.
Most embarrassing on-screen moment?
The only moment which has ever really made me blush was when one of our guests, Leonardo, burst into operatic song in the middle of a jewellery show!
Tell us a secret!
Then it wouldn’t be a secret!
What’s your idea of the perfect Sunday?
Lazy morning reading the papers, a long walk on the beach (I live only a block away) and then a huge Sunday roast, ideally with loved ones, followed by a snooze in front of the TV. Perfection.
Which living person do you most admire and why?
Sir David Attenborough, for his spirit, his dedication, his energy, his knowledge, his vision, his ability to fascinate and simultaneously educate and his indefatigable passion for issues and creatures that really matter.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself and others?
Ignorance
Aside from property, what’s the most expensive thing you've bought?
It was silly and pointless: a fantastic car, which I loved far too much. I called him Jasper and I really, really enjoyed owning it! There is a time and place for everything.
What keeps you awake at night?
Insomnia - ha, ha! Is that a trick question?
How would you like to be remembered?
As someone who cared, shared and loved.
What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
Only you can change your life... happiness is not a given.
Favourite IW or Craft product?
The Flexibar, but my life is full of excellent products from both ranges.
Which phrase do you overuse?
"Okay", "Now", "You know" – the list goes on…
If you could travel back in time, which period would you visit?
The 16th Century, The Reformation: the golden age of art and culture!
