Brand new and exclusive to Ideal World, watch the Salon Essentials Skin Camouflage Colourperfect Concealer Cream 15ml work wonders!
The Skin Camouflage Colourperfect Concealer Cream is a corrective concealer.
Skin Camouflage Concealer helps cover tattoos as well as skin imperfections such as: scars, birthmarks, vitiligo and rosacea.
The colourperfect™ concealers blend easily to closely match your own skin tone for a smooth, natural looking finish.
All you need to do is identify the colour of your skin, then squeeze a small amount of cream that most closely matches your skin colour, dab and blend onto the area along with the fixing powder. If the colour doesn’t quite match, you can mix the other concealers to create the right colour.
How do I camouflage strongly coloured tattoos?
For most tattoos simply using the skin colour matched camouflage will be sufficient to hide the tattoo. However, with strongly coloured designs you may wish to try applying a thin base layer of the complimentary colour (see following section) to cover the tattoo area, before applying the skin colour matched camouflage cream. Apply a thin layer of the complimentary colour to cover the tattoo area, and set with fixing powder. Then apply your skin colour matched camouflage cream as normal. Using complimentary colour in this way can have dramatically effective results.
What is complimentary colour therapy?
If you are having difficulty camouflaging highly coloured tattoos, using some additional pigmented creams (generally available from theatrical make-up shops) together with the complimentary colour theory may help. The complimentary colour theory uses the principal of opposite colours on the colour wheel to cancel each other out. For black tattoos the complimentary colour is white, for a green and lilac tattoo you would use a pale terracotta pink colour.

Skin Colour Match
To create a skin match, follow the steps below:
Step 1: First wash your hands and the area you want to conceal before you begin. Identify the colour of your unaffected skin, then squeeze a small amount of cream that most closely matches your skin colour into the palm of your hand and with your little finger, swirl the cream around. This is to help the cream warm up which will make the application easier. It is advised to match the creams to your skin tone in daylight to get a true match so your application looks natural.
Step 2: Lightly dab the camouflage cream onto your skin next to the area you wish to cover; this is to ensure the best possible match can be created. Remember, due to the influence of the sun the colour/tone of your skin may change with the seasons throughout the year. You should occasionally check you have the right shade for the appropriate match.
Step 3: If you feel as though the colour is too dark or light, and doesn’t quite match your skin tone you can remove the cream and add a lighter or darker cream to re-test it. If you still are unsure with selecting the correct shade, there are specialist practitioners that can assist. The British Association of Skin Camouflage, Camouflage Network and the Red Cross are all organisations which you can contact if help is needed.
Patch Test: Although Skin camouflage is hypoallergenic, a patch test should always be carried out 24 hours before use. Test by applying a small amount of cream on the affected area, if any irritation occurs discontinue use.
If you are currently applying medication to your skin, wait for 20 minutes for the ointment to be absorbed. Blot with a tissue before applying your camouflage. Moisturiser and Sun Protection can be applied under camouflage. You will need to wait 10 minutes for the product to be absorbed, again blot the area, to remove any excess.
Step 1 – Application
Finger tip application – use your finger tips to lightly dab the cream onto the area until it is fully covered. Please note: rubbing the creams onto the skin may aggravate some skin conditions.
Sponge application – If you wish to cover a large area of the skin, you may find it easier and quicker to use a sponge instead. Simply dab the sponge into the cream and apply on the area you wish to camouflage.
Brush application – You may find that the fine brush supplied in the kit is more accurate when covering small areas of the skin. When camouflaging a narrow scar, a thin, square ended brush to paint the camouflage skin match colour straight onto the scar only and not onto the surrounding area.
Niki recommends to create the desired effect, layering by applying the make-up and then the fixing powder. Repeat if necessary.
In some instances, this is not easily achieved, for example, if the scar shape is too irregular. In these cases carefully blend the camouflage over the immediate surrounding skin as you would with other larger areas of cover.
Step 2 – Blurring Edges
With a clean finger, gently tap the camouflage. This will blur the margin and help sink the camouflage into the area.
Step 3 – Fixing
Fixing and blotting the camouflage help to make it water and smudge resistant. To fix use a good quantity of powder to cover the camouflage area using a puff. Press and roll the powder over the area.
Step 4 – Brushing
Wait a couple of minutes then brush off any excess powder. Brush in the same direction of hair growth to ensure hairs lie flat to the skin. Any cream attached to hairs should brush off.
Step 5 – Blotting
If further coverage is needed allow a few minutes for the first application to dry and set. Apply additional camouflage cream as required. Dampen a flannel sponge and gently press over the camouflaged area. Blotting removes any chalkiness the powder may have created and accelerate the setting of the camouflage creams.
Use a cream based remover and cotton wool pads to remove your camouflage. Soap and water will lift the camouflage but not totally remove it.
Do not overload with too many layers. Applying camouflage too heavily will make the area obvious and unnatural.
Camouflage is designed to remain on the skin for 6 – 8 hours and can be removed and re-applied without any damaging effect to the skin.
You may find it necessary to re-apply the powder after a few hours. Re-applying powder will keep the camouflage matt.
Skin camouflage is suitable for both men and women and for all age groups, the same procedure is used on all skin types.
Do not apply to broken, infected, inflamed skin or unhealed scar tissue. Wash hands before beginning application and ensure area to be camouflaged is clean. Remove any oil from the skin surface you wish to conceal with a mild skin toner.
With the exception of tattoos, it is always best to seek your doctor’s permission to proceed with Skin Camouflage, as you might, without realising it, be concealing a condition that requires medical attention.
Should you notice any changes in your skin, and in particular any change to the colour or size of a mole, you must contact your doctor for a clinical diagnosis and you must stop using the Skin Camouflage until your medical practitioner has given you permission to continue.
Avoid direct contact with eyes. If cream gets into eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.
