Watch Week – Catching up with our Presenters!

Ideal World’s highly anticipated Watch Week is finally here and excitement is abuzz amidst our extensive collection of luxurious and limited edition timepieces, from world renowned brands including Vostok Europe, Mathey-Tissot, Constantin Weisz and Thomas Earnshaw.

As we dive into a full week of exclusive watch deals and unmissable shows, all of us wonder: “What watches make our favourite presenters tick?” and “How do their own collections compare?”

So, especially for you, we asked our presenters, Shaun Ryan and Mike Mason, everything you’ve ever wanted to know about their tastes, personal styles and even their history of watches, right from when they put on their very first timepiece.

Presenter Q&A

What was your first ever watch?

Mike: My first watch was a Snoopy holding a tennis racket watch and the seconds were a tennis ball. My aunt and uncle bought it for me and I loved it!
Shaun: My first watch was bought for me by my mum and dad as a present for passing my 11 plus exams.

Apart from telling the time, what is the other key feature a watch must have for you to buy?

Mike: Apart from telling the time, a watch should look good and deliver time clearly without being complicated on the face. The most important attribute a watch can have is accuracy and reliability
Shaun: A watch must definitely have a date setting, as I lose track of days!

How large is your current watch collection? What’s your favourite watch in your collection and can you ever have too many?

Mike: I have five watches in my collection, each for different purposes. A dress watch, water-resistant watches and stylish timepieces. My favourite has to be the one my partner bought me for our first Christmas together and an early 40th birthday present.
Shaun: My collection is around 25, but always growing – you can never have too many watches! My favourites vary depending on what I’m wearing and how I’m feeling.

What has been your favourite Ideal World collection of the season?

Mike: My favourite Ideal World collection has to be Vostok Europe – I own 2!
Shaun: My favourite collection this season is definitely the Everest Underground by Vostok, which I also presented the world launch for with Kevin recently.

From all of us here at Ideal World, we’re super excited to welcome you to Watch Week, where you can build your own collection with our hand-picked selection of luxurious timepieces on offer!
