Sedum Alpine Collection 7cm Pots (6 Pack)

Full Description

Sedum Alpine Collection 7cm Pots (6 Pack)

This collection of gorgeous, low-growing succulents is an ideal choice for rockery planting, containers and borders and their gently trailing habit even lends itself to hanging baskets.

Sedum acre, also known as mossy stonecrop, is a lovely evergreen, ground-covering plant that will grow almost anywhere - even between cracks in the pavement. Much of the year the stems are short, semi prostrate and densely clad in leaves, then in June and July, the stems lengthen and grow more vertical, often with a pinkish flush to the leaves, and produces pretty sprays of golden-yellow flowers for most of summer.

Sedum 'Murale' can produce any shade of purple through to green, along with red to orange or bronze. In summer, dainty white flowers are produced above the (usually) green, succulent leaves, adding to the display of colour. It is an excellent ground-cover plant, particularly for hot, dry sites. It forms a low carpet of small, rounded green leaves that take on a rich maroon colour during extended dry periods and in winter.

Sedum spurium, also known as 'Crimson Stonecrop', is the perfect all-purpose plant. This sedum is a sprawling, succulent, semi-evergreen perennial, growing to around 10cm tall, with bronze-red leaves that turn greener in summer. From June to September, clusters of deep rose-pink, star-shaped flowers burst from the upright stems, creating a mass of colour at the front of the border. Low-growing, easy, and trouble-free, stonecrop is ideal for rockeries, dry stone walls or general ground cover where it can help to suppress weeds. This particular variety is slower-growing than others, making it an ideal plant for alpine gardens too, where it will not compete vigorously with other plants.

Quickly covering bare patches in the border, Sedum will spread to around 25-60cm and further, as each little leaflet has the potential to make a new plant.
